GCSE English Tuition

GCSE English Tuition at Ark aims to provide a broad course of study covering the national curriculum in depth. The programme is suitable for students starting year 10. Our aim is to encourage students to develop confidence in, and a positive attitude towards English Language. Our programme provides a strong foundation for those who aim to study English at a higher level post GCSE.

The Programme mainly focuses on the Fiction and Imaginative Writing and the Non-fiction and Transactional Writing. We also emphasis on the students’ ability of the spoken language as it forms part of the assessment in the form of an endorsement declared by the head of centre of which the examination is taken, in most cases this is the school.

The aims and objectives of Ark GCSE Tuition in English Language are to enable students to:

1. Read a wide range of texts, fluently and with good understanding;
2. Read critically, and use knowledge gained from wide reading to inform and improve their own writing;
3. Write effectively and coherently using Standard English appropriately;
4. Use grammar correctly, punctuate and spell accurately;
5. Acquire and apply a wide vocabulary, alongside a knowledge and understanding of grammatical terminology, and linguistic conventions for reading, writing and spoken language.

We also provide tuition for GCSE English Literature as Private Tuition or as Special Group classes subject to availability.
