Sciences That Open University Doors
A Level sciences are among the most demanding subjects — and the most valuable. Whether your goal is medicine, engineering, research or a top science degree, the grades you achieve in Year 12 and 13 are critical.
Our subject-specialist tutors ensure students genuinely understand the material, not just memorise it. We cover theory, required practicals and exam technique in every subject — and keep university requirements in focus throughout.
Year 1 (AS) and Year 2 (A2) fully covered
Required practicals and lab report writing
Past paper practice under exam conditions
UCAS guidance for science, medicine and engineering
Curriculum
What's Covered in A Level Sciences
Each science is taught by a dedicated subject specialist. Students can take one, two or all three subjects.
Biology — Year 1 (AS)
Cell biology, transport in cells, genetic information, organisms and ecosystems. Foundations for all biology modules at A2 and university level.
Biology — Year 2 (A2)
Genetics, evolution, homeostasis, the nervous and endocrine systems, photosynthesis, respiration, and populations. Core A2 modules with required practicals.
Chemistry — Year 1 & 2
Physical, inorganic and organic chemistry from AS through to A2. Includes mechanisms, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and spectroscopic analysis.
All required practicals for Biology, Chemistry and Physics covered with a focus on method, analysis and the written lab report skills examiners reward.
University Preparation
Interview preparation for medicine and veterinary applications, advice on entrance tests (BMAT, UCAT), and UCAS personal statement support.

Choose the Support That Fits
Three clear ways to learn. Fees are transparent and matched to the level of support your child needs.
Most consistentStandard
Structured. Consistent. Curriculum-Focused.
Weekly curriculum-led group tuition for families who want consistent progress and a regular place.
£90per subject / 4 weeks
AS and A2 · Curriculum-led group tuition
Group tuition is subject to class and subject availability.
Each science is taught by a dedicated specialist — not a generalist. Students receive expert-level teaching in every subject they study.
Small Group Sizes
Maximum 6–8 students per group. Every student can ask questions, receive targeted feedback, and progress at the right pace.
Practicals & Lab Reports
Required practicals are taught alongside theory. Students learn to write strong lab reports — a skill that earns marks across all three sciences.
Past Paper Practice
Regular timed practice with detailed feedback. Students learn how to answer exam questions precisely and score maximum marks.
Medicine & STEM Applicants
Specialist support for students applying to medicine, dentistry, veterinary science and engineering — including UCAT, BMAT and interview prep.
Ilford Centre
Based in Ilford with easy access from across Redbridge and East London. Online sessions are also available for all science subjects.
Our Approach
How We Get Results
1
Diagnostic Assessment First
Every student starts with a subject-by-subject diagnostic. We identify the exact gaps in knowledge and build a targeted plan from day one.
2
Understanding, Not Memorisation
Sciences reward students who understand underlying principles. We teach for understanding so students can apply knowledge to unseen questions under pressure.
3
Exam Technique Runs Alongside Theory
Past paper questions are embedded into every topic — not saved for last-minute revision. Students build familiarity with mark schemes from the start.
4
University Goal in View
For medicine and STEM applicants, we track the grade requirements for target universities throughout the programme and adjust focus areas accordingly.
Student Outcomes

What Students Say
Hear from students who improved their A Level science grades with Ark Tuition.
"I needed AAA for medicine and was falling short in Chemistry and Biology. Ark's tutors genuinely understood the subject at a deep level and helped me see the connections between topics. I got my offer."
Anjali SharmaYear 13 · Medicine offer secured
"Physics always felt like a wall of equations. Ark's tutor broke it down into real problem-solving steps and helped me approach unseen questions without panicking. My grade jumped from a C to an A."
Sara PatelYear 12 · C to A in Physics
"The Biology tutor at Ark knew exactly which topics were likely to come up and how to write answers that score full marks. The required practicals sessions were also brilliant — I felt properly prepared."
Liyana MendisYear 13 · A* in Biology
"I was doing Chemistry, Biology and Physics and found managing all three overwhelming. Ark helped me build a structured approach to revision across all three subjects. It made a huge difference to my confidence."

Common Questions
Yes. You can enrol in Biology, Chemistry or Physics individually. Each subject has its own specialist tutor and programme. Many students take one or two subjects rather than all three.
Yes. Required practicals are embedded into the programme for all three sciences. Students also receive guidance on how to write lab reports in the format examiners expect.
Yes. For students applying to medicine, dentistry, veterinary science or engineering, we provide guidance on entrance tests (UCAT, BMAT), interview preparation, and the academic elements of the UCAS personal statement.
We cover all major A Level Science exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR A and OCR B (Salters). Lessons and past paper practice are matched to the specific board your school uses.
Yes. We accept students at any point in Year 12 or 13. We run a diagnostic assessment first to understand exactly where you are in each subject and fill any gaps before moving forward.
Yes. Every new student begins with a free 30-minute diagnostic assessment. This helps us understand your current level, identify priority areas, and recommend the right programme for you.
