Intensive 11 Plus Preparation
April–September focused revision for Year 5 — exam techniques, confidence, and past papers to prepare children for the grammar school exam.
Four Hours a Week — Built Around the Exam
What Is the Intensive Programme?
The Intensive 11 Plus programme is designed for Year 5 children aged 9–10 who are in the final months before their grammar school exam. Running from April to September, it delivers four hours of tuition per week across two sessions, covering all four exam subjects alongside dedicated exam technique and past paper practice.
It is ideal as a standalone programme for late starters, or as a powerful final push for children already attending our Year 5 classes. The summer timing means children can give it their full attention without school commitments getting in the way.
- Covers Redbridge CEM, Essex CEM, and Kent GL Assessment
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate school holidays
- Summer Boot Camp also available — £70/day
- Online and in-centre options
What's Covered in the Intensive Programme
All four 11 Plus subject areas, covered at exam pace — with a strong focus on technique, timing, and confidence.
Maths
Master rapid calculation, multi-step problem solving, and question triage — knowing which problems to attempt first to maximise marks. Covers all CEM and GL Assessment formats with timed drills to build speed and accuracy under exam conditions.
English
Structured strategies for high-scoring comprehension answers, timed creative writing with mark-scheme-aligned techniques, and grammar under pressure. Children learn to plan, write, and review within strict exam time limits.
Non-Verbal Reasoning
Systematic visual problem-solving methods for every question type — matrices, series, 3D rotation, and spatial reasoning. Children build a reliable step-by-step approach so no question type catches them off guard on exam day.
Verbal Studies
Vocabulary strategies for unfamiliar words, elimination techniques for cloze and synonym questions, and methods for extracting meaning quickly under time pressure. Aligned to CEM verbal section demands.
Exam Technique
Proven time allocation strategies per section, how to avoid mark-losing errors, and a clear decision framework for handling questions children are unsure about — so they never freeze or waste time mid-paper.
Past Papers
Full timed papers from Redbridge, Essex, and Kent boards — reviewed in class with targeted feedback on error patterns, lost marks, and the specific adjustments needed to convert near-misses into passes.
