Year 2 SATs exams are held during June of each year. This is an exam for children aged between 6 and 7 as part of the National Curriculum Assessment Programme.
From 2016 the SATs exams are taking a new style and more rigorous to reflect the new National Curriculum. .

May 2018: Key stage 1 test period
Week commencing Monday 12 June 2017 Phonics screening check week
Test consists of Two papers. Paper one focuses on Arithmatics. Paper two tests mathematical fluency, problem-solving and reasoning.
Test consists of two tests for Reading and two tests for Spelling, Grammar and Pounctuation. Paper 1 consists of a selection of texts with questions interspersed. Paper 2 comprises a reading booklet of a selection of passages where children are required to write their answers in a separate booklet.
There are a variety of question types from multiple choice, matching, true/false, constrained and less constrained, questions that prompt short answers or open ended answers and etc.
